Whether you’re new to H5P or looking to refine your workflow, this repository brings together everything you need in one place.

4 minutes read time.

Creating high‑quality interactive learning activities shouldn’t feel like reinventing the wheel every single time. That’s why I developed a comprehensive H5P template repository within the Campus Manitoba Pressbooks Template, a space designed to streamline interactive learning objects, support accessibility from the start, and give Pressbooks authors the confidence to build engaging and inclusive learning experiences.

Why Did I Build This Repository?

H5P offers a powerful suite of interactive content types, but navigating the options and understanding their accessibility implications can be overwhelming, especially for new users. The goal was simple: make it easier for authors to choose, customize, and embed accessible H5P activities without any guesswork.

The Campus Manitoba Pressbook Template repository includes 29 curated H5P activity examples, each selected to meet a range of pedagogical and accessibility needs. Authors can explore, test, and adapt these examples of each actitvity directly within Pressbooks, ensuring a smoother, more consistent creation process.

What You’ll Find Inside

Each example shows exactly how the activity looks and behaves. Authors can interact with the content before deciding whether it fits their goals.

I’ve integrated conformance levels and direct links to the LibreTexts H5P Accessibility Guide, helping authors make informed decisions about which activities are appropriate for their learners.

The repository walks authors through:

  • Selecting the right activity type
  • Accessing the H5P interface
  • Editing and customizing templates
  • Saving and organizing content
  • Embedding activities using Pressbooks shortcodes

I also emphasize the importance of descriptive, structured titles, a small step that makes a big difference when managing dozens of H5P items.

A Closer Look at the Repository Guide

To help authors navigate the options, activities are grouped into five major categories. Each category includes direct links to the H5P Accessibility Chart guidelines available in the LibreTexts Studio H5P Accessibility Guide, making it easy to understand what’s required to ensure an inclusive experience.

The repository contains samples for the following H5P content types:

Quiz/Problem Solving

Examples include Multiple Choice, Fill in the Blanks, True/False, and more, each with notes on usability and accessibility considerations.

How to Use the Repository in Your Workflow

  1. Browse the examples to see what’s possible.
  2. Interact with each activity to understand its strengths and limitations.
  3. Choose a template that aligns with your learning objectives.
  4. Customize it using the H5P editor in Pressbooks.
  5. Embed it using the auto‑generated shortcode.
  6. Delete the repository chapter once your book is complete; it’s meant as a workspace, not a final deliverable.

Designed for Learning, Built for Accessibility

Accessibility was built into the foundation of this repository, not treated as an afterthought. By pairing each activity with its accessibility profile and linking to authoritative guidance, we help authors make choices that support all learners.

We also highlight when certain activities require:

  • alternative formats
  • additional text descriptions
  • transcripts
  • or careful keyboard navigation considerations

This empowers authors to create content that is not only engaging but also equitable.

Supporting Open, Accessible Learning

The Campus Manitoba Pressbooks Template H5P repository draws on openly licensed resources, including examples from H5P.org and accessibility guidance from LibreTexts (CC BY 4.0). By building on existing open educational practices, we offer authors a robust, sustainable toolkit that evolves with our community.

Final Thoughts

Interactive content has the power to transform learning, but only when it’s easy to create and accessible to everyone. My H5P template repository is designed to remove barriers, spark creativity, and support authors at every step of the process.

As of June 2026, the Campus Manitoba Pressbooks Template is available on the OpenEd Manitoba PressbooksEDU Network.

Due to recent changes in provincial funding priorities, the long‑term hosting and maintenance of the network are uncertain. The template remains accessible for now, but its future availability will depend on decisions still being made.

Remember, if you’re building a Pressbook and want to incorporate interactive activities, this repository is a great starting point. Explore, experiment, and make it your own!

Good luck,

Kristy
